A new analysis by the Professional Association of Robotics, Automation and Innovations (PARAi) highlights the key challenges and opportunities facing Bulgarian industry. The report, “Bulgarian Industry at a Crossroads,” examines the transformations taking place in the manufacturing sector under the influence of automation, digitalization, and global competition.

According to the experts, the industrial sector plays a significant role in the country’s economy and generates a larger share of economic value added compared to a number of other sectors. At the same time, however, the industry requires faster adoption of new technologies, greater investment in research and development, and the development of highly qualified professionals.

The report emphasizes that Bulgaria has a solid engineering and technological base, as well as traditions in the fields of mechanics, electronics, and information technology. These strengths can serve as a foundation for the development of more high-tech manufacturing and for integrating automation and robotics into industry.

According to the authors of the analysis, the future growth of the industry will depend on closer cooperation between businesses, educational institutions, and the public sector, as well as on the development of modern industrial ecosystems.

The topic is particularly relevant for industrial centers such as Ruse, where the development of the manufacturing sector and the attraction of investments are key factors for the region’s economic growth.
