The international company WITTE Automotive has successfully finalized the acquisition of the electronics manufacturer HELBAKO—a strategic step that strengthens its position in the automotive industry and expands its expertise in the field of electronics and control units.

HELBAKO, with locations in Heiligenhaus and Timișoara, will enable WITTE Automotive to expand its portfolio in key areas such as the development, industrialization, and production of electronic components. Through this integration, the company will increase its capability to develop and manufacture electronic solutions within its own production network, while reducing its dependence on external suppliers.

In the context of the rapidly evolving automotive industry, electronics are playing an increasingly central role—both in locking systems and in comfort and automated access functions. One example is the WITTE Power FRUNK/Trunk system, which enables fully automated opening and closing of the front and rear lids. With the acquisition of HELBAKO, these technologies will be further developed through deeper integration of electronic components.

“Our products contain an ever-increasing share of electronics. With the acquisition of HELBAKO, we are enhancing our expertise in this area and ensuring greater flexibility and reliability for our customers,” commented Rainer Gölz, Chief Executive Officer of WITTE Automotive.

The two companies have a long-standing partnership and a similar corporate culture, which creates a solid foundation for successful integration. Around 250 employees become part of the WITTE Group, while approximately 70 jobs in the Velbert/Heiligenhaus region are being retained.

This strategic move reinforces WITTE Automotive’s position as a global supplier of locking and actuation systems and highlights the trend toward greater technological integration in the automotive sector.
